Surah Al Furqaan No.25 Ayat No.30
o وَقَالَ الرَّسُولُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي اتَّخَذُوا هَذَا الْقُرْآَنَ مَهْجُورًا
Translation :
And the Messenger will say, (On the day of Judgement) "O my Lord, these are my own people who had deserted this Qur'an ."
Comments :
" These people did not regard the Qur'an as worthy of their consideration: they neither accepted it nor followed it"; or " They considered it to be a nonsense or "They made it the target of their mockery". In fact they kept the book wrapped in a cloth and only reciting it in the sacred month of Ramadan. They did not took care to know what are the decrees of Allah and how to implement the instructions in their day to day life.
In my view, the Muslims must understand the values of Quran and act strictly as per the guidelines provided there.
You will be surprised to learn that people of other religion give due respect to the holy Quran. Recently Harvard University, the esteemed league institution in US has put up a verse of the Holy Quran from surah No.4, An Nisa verse No. 135, at the entrance of their famed law faculty. The verse says :
“ O Believers! Stand out firmly for justice, and be bearers of witness to truth for the sake of Allah, even though it may be either against yourselves or against your parents or kinsmen or the rich or the poor. Allah is more concerned with their well-being than you. Do not, then, follow your own desires, those may keep you away from justice. If you twist or turn away from (the truth), know that Allah is well aware of all that you do”.
According to the Institute, the above verse addresses the importance of truthfulness in testimony.
Surah No. 7, Al Aaraaf, Ayat No. 204
o وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُواْ لَهُ وَأَنصِتُواْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ
Translation :
And when the Qur'an is recited, listen to it carefully and remain silent so that mercy can be obtained by you .
